Wuhan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Co., Ltd Successfully Developed the First Domestic 6RT-flex50B Crankshaft

According to the latest news from China Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd, China's first Wartsila Diesel 6RT-flex50B large marine diesel engine crankshaft was independently reseached & produced by Wuhan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Co., Ltd, and it has been successfully put into operation in Qingdao Haixi Heavy Industry Co., Ltd (a subsidiary of Wuhan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Co., Ltd). This new development has broken the foreign monopoly for 350mm ~ 500mm small bore marine diesel engine crankshaft, and also filled the domestic gap.

More and more shipowners adopt RT-flex50B large marine diesel engine crankshaft for its better performance, the crankshaft which is called "heart" parts previously depended on import in China. Compared with the types of crankshaft produced by MAN company, this kind of new crankshaft adopted different materials and manufacturing process standards. Since the first set of MAN 6S60MC-C crankshaft successfully produced by Qingdao Haixi Heavy Industry Co., Ltd in April, 2007, the company began to develop Wartsila small bore crankshaft from the aspect of steelmaking, forging, heat treatment, red sleeve, mechanical processing according to the market requirments. At present, China's first 6RT-flex50B has been successfully produced and delivered to Qingdao Qiyao Wartsila MHL Linshan Marine Diesel Co., Ltd. After inspection, each indicator of the crankshaft is qualified and reach the world advanced level.



The successful development of 6RT-flex50B crankshaft marks that Wuhan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Co., Ltd has become the only specialized manufacturing enterprise with MAN patent and Wartsila patent to make mass production capacity of 350mm
