To promote local economic development and improve the popularity, a series of promoting activities concerning the application of "Demonstration Area of National Famous Brand Establishment" has been carried out recently in Wafangdian City. The project application materials have been submitted to the State Administration of Quality Supervision for approval while other work is continuing. It is learned that Wafangdian is the only county-level city in Dalian qualified to participate in the competition for "Demonstration Area of National Famous Brand Establishment" by virtue of the substantial annual sales revenue (more than 20 billion yuan) of its bearing industry cluster area.
The "Demonstration Area of National Famous Brand Establishment" activity has been organized and carried out by the State Administration of Quality Supervision last year, and 51 cities are participated in the application while only 12 of them can receive the approval and most of them are southern cities. The declared area of Wafangdian City is the bearing industrial cluster area.
Wafangdian is the birthplace and cradle of the bearing industry in China, known as the Industrial City in the south of Liaoning Province and Bearing City of China. There are 605 bearing and related enterprises and 8 enterprise groups, providing bearing products of all types to customers both at home and abroad. The sales revenue of the bearing industry in Wafangdian city was 28.6 billion yuan last year, accounting for 20.6 % of the national gross amount.
