UpWind Solutions, the service provider recently bought by Vestas, has won a contract to service 1.75GW of GE turbines in northwest US.
Signed up by Berkshire Hathaway Energy, the North American-based service provider will maintain over 1,150 GE 1.5MW turbines across 15 sites in Iowa, Wyoming and Oregon owned by Berkshire Hathaway and its subsidiaries MidAmerican Energy and PacifiCorp.
"This is a great achievement and validates the market strength we see in UpWind Solutions. This partnership confirms they are the trusted fleetwide enabler of production for multi-brand customers," said Vestas North America president of sales Chris Brown.
Vestas acquired UpWind in December 2015 in a $60 million deal, as part of a strategy to broaden its servicing potential.
UpWind Solutions supplies parts, blade inspection services and upgrades to projects in the US, according to Vestas. It serviced a portfolio of approximately 3GW across nine US states.
In October, UpWind Solutions signed a strategic partnership agreement with service provider RomoWind to market Romo's iSpin wind measuring system in the US for the first time.
