The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on small businesses able to rehabilitate turbine guide bearings at 810-MW Lower Granite and 402-MW Dworshak hydroelectric projects. Responses are due Nov. 12.
The Corps' Walla Walla District issued a sources sought notice seeking information on firms able perform the work at Lower Granite on the Snake River in Washington and Dworshak on the North Fork Clearwater River in Idaho. The agency plans to use information from responses to help draft a solicitation for the work.
The Corps plans to seek a contractor to inspect and refurbish two separate turbine guide bearings at Lower Granite and Dworshak, with an option to perform similar work on another guide bearing at Lower Granite. The work is to include removal of existing babbitt, spin casting new babbitt, and possible refurbishment of the vertical split flange contact surfaces and outer diameter spigot fits, followed by machining and painting of the shells' exterior.
