The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP, formerly Customs) announcedit is now accepting applications for payouts under the Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act. The highly controversial CDSOA takes the antidumping and countervailing duties collected under various cases and distributes them to domestic producer claimants in each case. The claimants must have materially participated in the complaint in order to collect. Because the U.S. Government fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30, this announcement covers the funds available for distribution which were collected during fiscal year 2003, July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. Claims must be filed by September 12, 2003. The total dollar amount available for distribution in each case is important to know -- many times, the potential collection may be far less than the cost of filing the claim. The U.S. International Trade Commission supplies CBP with the list of eligible producers, and CBP creates the eligibility list across all industries and products. eBearing has developed and refined the CBP list of eligible claimants, identifying and cataloging the specific bearing industry claims, and working with the CBP to provide an accurate funds availability statement. Note that the funds available data is only preliminary at this time; a fully audited funds availability list will not be available from the CBP for several weeks. eBearing will update these tables with current data as it becomes available.
