The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) today announced it has expanded its innovative line of condition-monitoring equipment to include a bearing tester instrument.
Its portable, compact design helps make the bearing tester a convenient tool for checking the condition and lubrication condition of ball- and roller- type bearings in many customer applications. An economical solution for maintenance personnel, this technology complements a comprehensive predictive- maintenance program.
"Every day, customers turn to Timken to help maximize their uptime with cost-effective solutions," said Daniel J. Szoch, manager for Timken's condition-monitoring solutions business with the Industrial Group. "Adding the bearing tester to our product portfolio gives our customers yet another way to increase their productivity by helping them detect potential failures and correct them before unplanned downtime can occur."
The bearing tester utilizes shock-pulse analysis for early detection of bearing damage and marginal lube-film conditions. A built-in microprocessor analyzes the shock-pulse patterns from the bearing and displays an immediate evaluation on a green-yellow-red condition scale. The bearing tester also has an infrared sensor to measure surface temperature and a stethoscope function to detect sound irregularities via headphones.
In addition to the bearing tester, Timken continues to expand its broad portfolio of condition-monitoring solutions that now includes portable instruments, continuous monitoring devices, online systems and reliability services. These solutions are applicable to a wide range of industries to create customer value by helping to maximize uptime, reduce maintenance costs and improve productivity.
