Timken Expanding Arizona Operations
The Timken Company (USA; NYSE: TKR) is expanding to an 85,000 square foot facility at 3110 North Oakland in Dover Industrial Park outside Mesa and near Phoenix, Arizona. Timken Alcor is moving there from its current facility in Gilbert, Arizona.
Dover Industrial Park, in the Falcon Field Business District -- on the Falcon Field airport grounds -- is home to a number of aerospace companies: Alliant Techsystems, Amsafe Aviation, Lockheed-Martin, Marsh Aviation, MD Helicopters, Semflex, Special Devices Inc., Talley Defense Systems, Boeing, and others.
General Manager of Timken Alcor Aerospace Technologies, Barry Stonehouse, said: "We are actively acquiring companies and the new facility allows us to put them all under one roof."
In 2004, Timken acquired Alcor Engine Company and its affiliate, Advance Repair Technologies Inc. from Mr. Stonehouse. Timken Alcor manufactures, "realistically priced replacement parts," for gas turbine engines, primarily those used in helicopters.
Mr. Stonehouse pointed out the move to 85,000 square feet at Falcon Field will not only allow related operations under one roof but also situates Alcor close to Boeing and MD Helicopters, both key customers.
In a statement, Bob McNichols of Park developer Daedalus Real Estate Advisors, said: "Timken joins other leading companies that have chosen Dover Industrial Park." In the 65-acre development, Mr. McNichols said: "Land at the park is nearly sold out and the project now contains more than 270,000 square feet of industrial and light office commercial space. Ten buildings, totaling approximately 285,000 square feet, are currently under construction at Dover Industrial Park and we anticipate another 150,000 square feet will be included in the completed park."
Mr. Stonehouse indicated Timken Alcor's current employment level of approximately 75 workers is not enough and that it will need to hire at least 25 more by the end of this year.
