Timken Co. Announces Scholarship Recipients
CANTON The Timken Co. Educational Fund has given away hundreds of full college scholarships to children of its employees since 1958.

On Thursday, The Timken Co. announced the group of students it is recognizing with scholarships for 2007.

Five winners were selected to receive scholarships for tuition and fees up to $30,000 per year. The local winners are Shan Jin of Massillon, Benjamin Lichtenwalter of Massillon and Timothy Weaver of Canton.

Three alternates have been selected to receive a one-time award of $2,500. They are Katherine Digianantonio of Massillon, Katie Krabill of Louisville and Andrew Lyons of Dover.

The Timken Co. Educational Fund also offered an additional $5,000 per year for room and board for any U.S. scholarship winner planning to major in engineering or engineering technology. Lichtenwalter will receive the supplementary amount as he intends to study aerospace engineering in college.

Lichtenwalter, who attends Perry High School, is the son of Glenn (Rick) Lichtenwalter, tool planning principal at the Canton Bearing Plant.

Jin is the daughter of Daqing Jin, manager of sales & marketing Ð China Ð alloy steel in Canton, and Guizhen (Jane) Chen, principal materials engineer at the Timken Technology Center in North Canton. Jin attends Jackson High School and plans to study chemistry in preparation for medical school.

Weaver is the son of Robert A. Weaver, mechanical maintainer at the Faircrest Steel Plant in Perry Township. He attends Canton South High School, and plans to study business and mathematics in college.

Digianantonio is the daughter of Andrew (Andy) Digianantonio, development specialist at the Timken Technology Center. She attends Jackson High, and plans to study chemistry.

Krabill is the daughter of Timothy Krabill, senior product development specialist at the Timken Technology Center. She attends Louisville High School, and plans to study sociology.

Lyons is the son of John Lyons, supply chain section manager Ð 0-8 low and medium volume in Canton. He attends Dover High School, and plans to study biology.
