The Highest Main Drive Gear Box Manufactured by SMMP with Special Speed Increasing Function will be Used for High Rod-rolling Line Designed by SMS

A few days ago, Baosteel engineering and technology group SMMP delivered the first main drive gear box which is manufactured according to German SMS unique standards to SMS-MEER(shanghai). This overdrive gear box with Max.speed of 120m/s is the highest speed main drive gear box in the world, which will be used into the highest wire rod rolling line to be built in the world. The designer SMS-MEER (shanghai) introduced that besides the main drive gear box is manufactured by SMMP, the rest part of the line are all manufactured by German company in Germany.

The main drive gear box is belonged to the key equipment of high speed rolling line. Generally, gear box plays a decelerating function. This time, the main drive gear box manufactured by SMMP possesses the special speed increasing function with Max.capacity of 6000KV while the Max. output speed of rolling line can reach 125m/s. the gear accuracy reaches 4th grade of ISO1328-1:1995 standard, of which tooth profile and spiral line deviation parameter reach 3rd grade, as the highest standard in the industry.

The highest wire rod rolling line designed by SMS-MEER (shanghai) will be located at Xinjiang Yili, which is the rod-rolling mill with the highest speed per hour under construction in China. The speed of 120m/s is far higher than 95m/s rolling speed of the present high rod-rolling mill. As the first job after the setup of SMS-MEER (shanghai), the design and components parts manufacture for Xinjiang Yili high rod rolling line is made special emphasis by SMS headquarter high levels and gear specialists, who have been to SMMP for spot investigation and research for several times. With comprehensive judgment, SMMP is considered to be able to manufacture the overdrive gear box with its equipment process, technical level, basic management and personnel skills.

During the manufacture, SMMP organized 10 technical breakthrough teams for strengthening the digesting and absorbing on designed drawings and technical parameters as well as setting the detail process schemes on heat treatment, box, gear and assembly. Meanwhile, for technical quality of each critical part will be responsible by special personnel with a longitudinal control during the full process.

After the assembly of overdrive gear box, with SMS-MEER (shanghai) inspection and acceptance, the product quality is considered as fully reaching the design requirements by SMS.
