The 1st China Manus Plastic Bearing Design Contest had begun receiving applications from contestants several days ago. This contest was sponsored by Igus, Journal of Industrial Technology(JIT) and China Engineering Technology Institute.
As an high tech products appeared over 20 years ago, plastic bearing make it possible for engineers to enjoy the benefit of various technological accomplishments and lower the developing cost. The Manus Contest is to represent plastic bearings' superiorities to more potential users and share the fruits brought about by technological progress.
So far this contest had been successfully organized in Germany, North American, UK, Italy etc. In the previous contests, applications submitted by contestants were in various fields, ranging from bearing for blender in Methane plant to those for mountain bicycle derailleur; from bearings of driving chains to artificial knee joint etc.
Applications may be submitted until August 15, 2006 and on Sept. the Award Ceremony will be held. Three cash prizes, RMB10,000, 5000 and 2000 will be awarded along with certificate of recognization.
