Temperature From SKF Laser Infrared Thermometer
SKF has launched a dual laser infrared thermometer, the TMTL 2400K, which makes it simple to test the temperature of objects quickly and accurately, remotely and safely
Called the TMTL 2400K, the device can be used either as a non contact thermometer, using the in-built infrared detector, or a contact thermometer, using a compatible probe, enabling the temperature of objects to be measured in hot, hazardous or hard to reach areas, without risking the safety of maintenance personnel The TMTL 2400K is lightweight and compact, able to be carried around and used whenever and wherever it is required, while a built-in LED torch and a large backlit display make it easy to take readings in dark or dimly lit areas
The thermometer is capable of processing a wide temperature range, of between -60 and 1000C using the infrared sensor, or -64 and 1400C with the probe. The built-in dual laser feature and spot ratio of 50:1 make the device suitable for demanding applications where accuracy is critical.
Furthermore, the TMTL 2400K enables emissivity levels to be selected by the user, allowing a contact temperature measurement to be compared with the infrared measurement in order to find and adjust the thermometer emissivity, for precise and consistent results.
When used as an infrared detector, the optics of the device sense emitted, reflected and transmitted energy, which is collected and focussed onto a detector.
This information is then translated into an accurate temperature reading in C, which is clearly displayed on the backlit detector screen.
The TMTL 2400K is also supplied with a K type temperature probe for use as a contact thermometer, and is compatible with a range of SKF probes for maximum flexibility
