Specifications:
1. Taper roller bearings have tapered inner and outer ring raceways between which tapered rollers are arranged. The projection lines of all the tapered surfaces meet at a common point on the bearing axis. Their design makes taper roller bearings particularly suitable for the accommodation of combined (radial and axial) loads.
2. Single row taper roller bearings can carry axial loads in one direction only. A radial load imposed on the bearing gives rise to an induced axial load which must be counteracted and the bearing is therefore generally adjusted against a second bearing. Some single row taper roller bearings are also avaible as matched paors in a face-to-face arrangement. These are specially manufacured so that when mounted immediately adjacent to each other, the predetermined axial internal clearance will be obtained and an even distribution of radial load achieved. Paired bearing arrangements are used where the load carrying capacity of a single bearing is inadequate, or the bearing arrengement must carry axial loads in both directions under given conditions of axial play.
3. Taper roller bearings are generally separable, the cone, consisting of the inner ring with roller and cage assembly, can be mounted separately from the cup (outer ring).
