Taiwan H1 Machine Tool Exports Up 6.9%
Exports of Taiwan-made machine tools rose 6.9% year-on-year to US$1.365 billion in the first six months of 2006, according to customs-cleared statistics compiled by the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI).
The plastics and rubber machinery category ranked second with US$444.14 million, down 4.6%. The third place went to special-purpose machines with US$443.01 million, up a whopping 20.4%. Pumps, compressors and fans came in fourth place with US$426.04 million, down 5.3%. Valves and parts followed in fifth place with US$392.34 million, up 11.9%.
Total exports of Taiwan-made machinery reached US$6.676 billion in this period, up 2.9% year-on-year.
