Shropshire-based GWR Fasteners Ltd is about to take delivery of its fourth CNC machine, a Star SR38 Type B, a move that will significantly increase capacity and allow the company to offer new fastener products.
The company, which is a family-run business, took delivery of its first CNC machine in January 2014, which was a major milestone for the company's owners, Gary and Jude Robinson.
Since then, growing demand for the company’s manufacturing expertise saw another two machines installed in the space of 18 months.
The company has recently doubled its factory space to accommodate this rapid expansion and the fourth machine will be installed in June 2016.
GWR Fasteners manufactures special fasteners and precision components, in various materials, for customers that include other fastener companies, automotive companies and other precision engineering companies. Applications have ranged from high-end luxury cars to steam engines for model boats.
Jude Robinson, the Commercial Director of GWR, said: “This is massive news for us. We have spent seven years getting to this point because our dream has always been to be successful manufacturers. This fourth machine, which is manufactured by Star Micronics GB and has been supported by Close Brothers Asset Finance and the Government's Regional Growth Fund, offers us greater dimensional capacity and versatility.
“We know that our customer base for our manufacturing capability will increase significantly and we will be able to fill the product gaps which we know exist in the fasteners market.”
