SKF's Vogel Grease-Lubrication FF Series
Lubrication solutions, one of SKF's five technology platforms, provides automated, distributed lubrication arrangements for process machinery and industrial plants. The benefits of correct, regular, measured lubrication as part of a fully managed maintenance programme can never be overstated.
"Around thirty percent of premature failures in mechanical equipment are caused by poor or inadequate lubrication. Automating this aspect ensures replenishment at the correct interval, at all the points where it is required and with the correct quantity," states Vincent Correia, SKF's Product Specialist - Lubrication Systems. "Automatic centralised lubrication can have major cost benefits and offers substantial environmental benefits over less precise traditional techniques," continues Correia.
The SKF Vogelâ FF Grease-lubrication pump was the ideal solution to offer to a manufacturer of carbon paste and high carbon coke in the Witbank area due to the rough conditions that their machines perform in, as it ensures that the grease is purged to the bearings on a continuous basis. Continuous lubrication means that the dirt is kept out and the bearing life increases. This multi outlet pump is simple in arrangement and in most cases skilled labour is not required to install it.
The Vogel FF pump series is suitable for small and medium-sized systems. The lubricant is fed into the lubrication points directly or via a progressive distributor. They are available with various motor voltages, come with a 4 or 10kg grease reservoir, and can be supplied with or without filling level controls. The pumps are capable of handling high operational pressures, to a maximum of 350 bars, and have up to 12 individually adjustable pump elements or outlets that have various delivery volumes and pipe connections.
The SKF Vogel FF pump series offer various advantages to customers as they are universally applicable in regard to their mode of operation (continuous / intermittent) and lubricants.
SKF believes in continuous innovation and to achieve and maintain a leading position in international competition, SKF continuously develops new products and improves on existing products and services. For this reason an above-average number of engineers are at work in SKF's technical departments around the world and more highly skilled experts are at work in the production department than is usual in the lubrication trade. "Constant adaptation to new technical challenges is a matter of course for SKF", Correia concludes.
