SKF Maintenance Products has introduced the Stroboscope TMRS 1 to its range of instruments for Operator Driven Reliability (ODR). This tool for basic condition monitoring facilitates the inspection of rotating or reciprocating machinery without the need for stopping the machine, by making the motion appear to freeze or slow down. The TMRS 1 stroboscope is easy-to-use and the robust design makes it suitable for industrial use.
It has flash rates of up to 12,500 flashes per minute (FPM) so covers a wide range of applications such as fans, air motors, turbines and pumps.
It is also ideal for visual inspection of gear teeth, printing presses and shafts.
'The TMRS 1 is part of the basic SKF range of condition monitoring equipment, but basic does not mean primitive,' explains Phil Burge of SKF UK.
'It is an extremely cost-effective tool that helps optimise asset efficiency, by allowing for more frequent inspections.' The stroboscope's phase shift feature allows the user to advance or repress the flash timing without changing the flash rate.
As a result, the user can virtually freeze the motion at the position required.
The flash rate, which can be set between 40 and 12,500 per minute, is quick and easy to adjust.
Using the variable dial rate, the required speed is reached within a matter of seconds.
The completely portable instrument has a rechargeable, high-performance battery and can be mounted on a tripod for stability and ease of use.
All functions are accessible via an easy-to-use control and display panel.
The Xenon flash tube has a life of 100 million flashes, each generating 154 mJ light power lasting for 9-15 microsec.
