Promotes 16 children from SKF's sports academy to represent India in the under 14 category of world's largest international youth football tournament
With a sole objective to promote young talent and provide holistic growth opportunities among the underprivileged children in the adjoining communities, SKF India today announced the sponsorship of 16 member team from SKF India Sports Academy to participate in Gothia Cup 2012, the world's largest youth football tournament scheduled on July 15-21 in Sweden.
The team was selected from a pool of 30 players of age group 11 to 14 as a part of "Meet the World" tournament, a pre-event qualifying football tournament held in local SKF country locations. In India, SKF promotes the football talents from the SKF Sports Academy, the CSR arm of SKF India, committed to nurture and develop sporting talent among the underprivileged children in neighbouring communities. This tournament provides a rare opportunity for the children to display their skills and become a better global citizen. SKF India Sports Academy was established in 2005 with the vision of providing holistic development by promoting sports for underprivileged children in the neighbouring communities.

Through our sports academy, we attempt to provide a platform for the children towards their all round development." All players as a part of SKF India Sports Academy receive quality coaching, training, nutrition advices from approved authorities. In addition to providing professional guidance to nurture their skills, SKF also provides necessary grooming and logistical support to help the children prepare for international events of this nature.
To gain competitive experience, SKF Sports Academy teams have participated in various national and international tournaments such as Gothia Cup, Das Memorial Trophy, PDFA League, etc. Additionally, some of the ex-players of the Sports Academy are successfully representing their candidature at various highly regarded national and state level tournaments including Subroto Mukherjee National Team and PDFA. Each batch is inducted for a period of 5 years. The first batch of Sports Academy students graduated in 2011.
