SKF Bearing Rotating in China

When it comes to bearings, SKF will be one of several famous brands in the world. When it comes to market, China will be the most favourable place on earth. So, how about the integration between SKF and China? Of course, it will be the next "the most".

Now SKF have had over 10 years' working experience in China. They have built 5 manufacturing plants and some other joint ventures in China. They have grown up from an fresh man to an old China hand who know China very well in both business and culture.

In China, SKF stressed not only technological innovation but also cost reducing. They have been trying to localize their suppliers for many years and now nearly 90% of SKF China's material suppliers are original Chinese enterprises. In addition, they have set an target that all bearings from SKF China will beome fully made-in-China by 2008. About this target, Mr. Stan, president of SKF Automobile division, said that they have a set of strict requirements for every authorized suppliers and based on the current technical level of Chinese suppliers, it is possible for them to meet all those requirements in future.

However, there are still some contradictions in China. Will advanced technology accompany with foreign investment that being introduced to China? This is the hottest topic at present. Mr.Stan indicated that they will do any things to meet all customers need, if necessary, they will bring the latest technologies into China.

According to Mr.Stan, few Chinese enterprises are willing to use the latest technologies, for fearing some maybe-exist negative impacts, such as the higher cost that may be produced by the technologies. All this is contrary to the pursuing of latest technologies and products in European or America countries. Mr.Stan stressed that SKF's technologies is not only advanced but also cost effective.

Last year, SKF's sales in China hit 517 million yuan. 2 of SKF's new plants under construction will be put into mass production in China this year.
