SKF Aeroengine officials announced Monday afternoon that Falconer, N.Y. was chosen as the site for a state-of-the art Heat Treat facility which is expected to open its doors in early 2011.
The construction of the new facility will ensure that more than 600 local workers will retain their positions for at least the next 20 years, as every bearing produced by the company will make its way through the plant for a critical part of the process.
Chautauqua County was in direct competition with several southern states as well as foreign countries to secure the site of the new facility, and according to the company, several factors swayed their minds including incentives offered through a comprehensive public-private partnership as well as an agreement reached with the leaders of the UAW Local 338 Union workers.
