SKF accredited as approved offshore supplier
Gothenburg, 3 December 2013: SKF (UK) Limited Aberdeen, a centre of excellence within SKF Reliability Systems that specialises in the offshore industry, has been awarded a highly coveted accreditation as a DNV (Det Norske Veritas) Approved Service Supplier. The accreditation, which few companies have so far received, underlines SKFs exceptional capability to improve reliability and introduce cost savings for its offshore customers.
The achievement is significant due to DNV’s ranking as the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society, in addition to its position as one of the top three certification bodies in the world. The accreditation follows a number of comprehensive quality system assessments and audits of SKF Aberdeen, supervised by DNV.
“The certification from DNV is becoming widely recognised as a requirement for many companies when selecting a Condition Monitoring Service – and obtaining it is a notable achievement,” says Damien O’Reilly, Manager for SKF North Sea Operations. “It was certainly worth the investment of time and effort, working closely with DNV to complete the process. Our unit is now well placed to assist offshore exploration, drilling & oil and gas operators in reducing CLASS inspection requirements through engagement with a DNV approved Service Company. With this accreditation, we are a step closer to fulfilling our aim to become the preferred supplier of services and solutions across the whole of the oil and gas sector.”
Achieving the accreditation from DNV is a key aspect of SKF’s long term commitment to developing effective life cycle management in order to reduce the total cost of ownership and ultimately, increase profitability for its customers.
