Strong demand from customers has led bearings and sintering specialist Bowman International to introduce an on-site contract machining service.
The compamy says that on top of an almost overwhelming demand for its sintered products it has also been inundated by requests from customers for machining services, which up to now it has been outsourcing.
The new contract machining facility includes CNC turning and milling machines and will allow the company to offer a quicker turnround on machined sintered parts.
As well as being able to offer rapid modifications to stock bearings, Bowman can now meet customer demand on site for machining special parts. These are primarily from bars and billets in sintered bronze, cast bronze and composites, but can also be from traditional materials.

"Being able to offer a fast turnround at competitive prices is vitally important in today's industrial climate," said Bowman managing director Paul Hancock. "We will now be able to offer customers a fast, comprehensive service using our own resources."
Bowman has quality approvals from a variety of leading manufacturers in the aerospace, automotive and defence sectors, complementing its certification to BS EN ISO 9001: 2008.
Further significant expansion to the new machining facility is planned in the near future.
Demand for Bowman products and services has greatly increased following its acquisitions of Oilite Bearings Ltd and the sintering division of MPC Industrial Solutions, formerly EGA Sinter.
