Two Sinovel SL3000 3MW turbines have come into service in a wind farm 35km northeast of Karlstad in central Sweden on 29 February.
The turbines stand 150 metres high, with a rotor diameter of 113 metres. CRC Vindkraft AB, the wind farm developer, spent SK 84 million ($12.85 million) to buy the two turbines.
They are expected to generate 15,000MWh electric power in a year to satisfy annual power consumption in 3,000 households.
Li Lecheng, senior vice-president of Sinovel, said the project is of demonstration effect for Sinovel. If Sinovel turbines are accepted by local users for the quality and technology, and meet no problem in access to the grid, it will pave the way for its turbines to enter the European market.
On June 10, 2011, CRC Vindkraft AB signed the procurement contract for the two 3MW turbines with Sinovel in Beijing. It marked the first time that China-made wind turbine entering the Swedish market.
