At the WindEnergy 2016 trade show Siemens will showcase various innovations designed to address the challenges of the energy transition, appearing under the motto: “Smart solutions every step of the way.” From September 27 to 30, the company will showcase not only breadth of existing products and solutions for the entire value chain of wind energy projects but also introduce its innovations in wind service at its 360-square-meter booth B6.362 in Hall 6.

The global energy landscape is going through a period of rapid and fundamental change, driven largely by new technologies, increasing electricity demand and the desire to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. For Siemens, this includes a new approach to manage blade integrity in the field and responding to the challenge of leading-edge erosion. Advanced data-driven services will also be highlighted within Siemens’ Digital Services for Energy offerings as the company looks to help customers unlock the secrets of big data for improved performance and cost reductions.

“In our role as a large player in the wind industry we see the combined WindEnergy Hamburg and Wind Europe Conference as the key global forum for innovation and progress in our technology,” said Siemens Wind Power CEO Markus Tacke. “We are focused on reducing costs with cutting-edge technology to make wind energy cost competitive in different markets and to fit the various needs and challenges facing our customers today. In our presentations we will give visitors and guests exciting insights into our latest developments in turbine technology, wind equipment, grid access, service solutions and financing.”

In addition to product presentations at the trade show, Siemens experts will talk about industry-wide topics at the Wind Europe Conference.

Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division will be a panelist at the “Business Meets Policy” session on Tuesday, September 27, on the future of wind energy in Europe.

Advisory Specialist Aidan Cronin will chair the Research & Innovation (R&I) panels on the same day focusing on the relationship between the digital economy and wind, as well as EU R&I spending.

In the “Optimizing O&M” offshore panel on Thursday, September 29, Rene Wigmans, Head of Siemens Maritime & Aviation Solutions, will provide an assessment of how the Siemens’ Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) performed in their first year of operation and how the SOVs have managed to reduce LCoE for offshore wind projects.

On the panel “Component Reliability and Diagnostics”, also onSeptember 29, Henrik Pedersen, Head of Model Based Diagnostics, will outline how production losses can be reduced through early-stage detection of turbine defects to enhance productivity of wind investments.
