Nerve-wracking motorsport, twice around the clock: that describes the Hamburg 24 Hours. The world’s arguably craziest endurance race will be held in the foyer of TuTech Innovation GmbH at Channel Hamburg on November 22 and 23. Six teams will be battling for the title at the pinnacle event in this year’s rallye racing Carrera Cup (RCCO) – with 1/24 slot cars. Audi Team tv racing is relying on prominent support in the event. Among others, DTM driver Miguel Molina and five-time Le Mans winner Frank Biela will be at the controls of the green-yellow Schaeffler Audi R8 LMS. While Molina is celebrating his debut, Biela triumphed with Audi Team tv racing in the past five years.
Schaeffler has been involved in the RCCO as a partner since 2011. The fascination exuded by the perfect small-scale technology is a crucial aspect of the commitment. Particularly the 24-hour race demands the drivers’ fullest concentration. A minor mistake can ruin the race and only three motors across the entire race distance are available per car. It comes as no surprise that racing icon and slot car fan Frank Biela makes it clear that, compared to ‘real’ motorsports on the race track, a lot in the Hamburg 24 Hours is 1/1 and not 1/24.
