Mike Rockenfeller will be on the grid at round eight of the DTM at the Lausitzring next weekend. Following his second place in his home round at the Nürburgring, the 30-year-old is set on confirming his rising form curve at Lausitz. The chances of doing so are good, as last year the Schaeffler brand ambassador on his way to clinching the champion’s title in his Audi RS 5 DTM saw the checkered flag as the runner-up.
Schaeffler has been rooted in the Brandenburg region for more than two decades. Luckenwalde, about 110 kilometers away from the Lausitzring, is home to a plant of Schaeffler Technologies that manufactures engine elements. In 1991, parts of the former VEB roller bearing plant in Luckenwalde had been acquired. Since then, an amount in the three-digit million range has been invested in the development of the site. The number of employees has increased from just under 150 to more than 500 by now.
