As part of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), the Export Control Organisation (ECO) processes applications for licences to export strategic goods from the UK. The ECO processes export applications according to legislation covering strategic exports. Key strategic export regulations are:
The Export Control Act 2002, including secondary legislation, trade control orders and guidance on various aspects of the Act.
The UK consolidated list of strategic military and dual-use items.
The European Community (EC) dual-use regulation.
EC regulations on goods used for torture - EU Dual-Use Regulation (also known as Council Regulation (EC) No 1334/2000) and the EU Regulation on Torture (also known as Regulation (EC) No 1236/2005).
