SKF USA's Russell T. Gilman (USA) operation in Grafton, Wisconsin has been renamed SKF Precision Technologies, with added products and services.
Founded in 1952 by Russell T. Gilman Sr., the eponymous company has served through the years as a manufacturer, distributor, and service provider, in a wide variety of industries (in 1974, Russell T. Gilman Sr. and Russell T. Gilman Jr. went on to found Dadson Corp., a vendor of equipment and supplies for deep hole drilling operations). It later focused on high-precision machine tool spindles, related products and services.
SKF acquired Russell T. Gilman in mid-1998 as the centerpiece of its new Industrial Products Division. The company now designs, manufactures and rebuilds high-precision machine tool spindles, slides, index tables, components, modules and accessories. It was SKF's first North American acquisition to service that high-end market.
As SKF Precision Technologies, the company is bringing together its broad range of machine tool products and services under this one banner. In addition to the former Russell T. Gilman products, SKF is adding support for precision manufacturing equipment producers, including a network of spindle repair service centers, precision and commercial grade ballscrew and roller screw products and repair, linear products and services, along with SKF's super-precision machine tool bearing product line.
Tom Klahorst, the company's VP of Sales, said, "The name has changed to SKF Precision Technologies, but the service and attention to detail in solving machine design challenges has expanded to better serve our customers."
