Profits of Industrial Enterprises Above Designated Size Fell 1.6 % from January to April in 2012

During the first four months in 2012, the industial enterprises above designated size realized profits of 1.4525 trillion yuan, 1.6 % decreased compared with the same period last year. In the month of April, the industial enterprises above designated size realized profits of 407.6 billion yuan, 2.2 % decreased compared with the same period last year.

Among the industial enterprises above designated size, the state-owned and controlled enterprises realized profits of 457.8 billion yuan, down 9.9 % year on year; the collectively-owned enterprise realized profits of 22.4 billion yuan, up 12.3 % year on year; the joint-equity enterprises realized profits of 838.5 billion yuan, up 0.6% year on year; foreign and domestic Hongkongese, Macanese and Taiwanese-invested enterprises realized profits of 340.6 billion yuan, down 13.2 % year on year; private enterprises realized profits of 425.7 billion yuan, up 20.9 % year on year.

Among the 41 major industrial sectors: 27 industrial sectors experienced increase in profits, 11 experienced profit decline, 1 swung to loss, and 1 suffered loss increase. Profits year on year profit growth of major industries: oil and gas extraction industry 8.2 % rose in profits; agro-food processing industry 18.7 % rose in profits; automobile manufacturing industry 8.7 % rose in profits; electricity, heat production industry rose 20.1% in profits; chemical materials and chemical products manufacturing industry 24.4% declined in profits; ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry 57% declined in profits; general purpose machinery manufacturing industry 2.4% declined in profits; electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry 5.2 % declined in profits; computer, communication equipment and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry 17 % declined in profits; petroleum, coking and nuclear fuel processing industry turned into losses compared with the same period in last year.
