Haverhill, MA, August 16, 2012 - The Filtration and Separation Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, offers portable nitrogen generation systems to provide a continuous supply of dry nitrogen for direct injection applications.
The primary uses for nitrogen in the mining industry are extinguishing coal mine fires or to inert abandoned areas of mines. A significant benefit to using nitrogen over liquids, foams or powders is easy distribution in hard to reach places. Additionally, nitrogen gas injection is used to seal abandoned areas and is required to displace oxygen, CO2, methane and other gases. Federal Regulations require a continuous injection of nitrogen to modify oxygen concentration to less than 10%, and maintaining a tight seal to at least 50 psig.
Continuous nitrogen injection can be required for a day or in some cases, months. A nitrogen generator is an economical alternative to a transported cryogenic-based nitrogen supply.
The Parker nitrogen generator, housed in a compact, easily transportable container for above ground installations, will produce 95% - 99+% pure nitrogen at flows of up to 3,000 SCFM. The Parker system is simple to operate and offers rapid set-up, start-up and de-rigging on location within hours. For underground coal mine installations, Parker has compact, low profile "underground units" available.
