During this congress in Darmstadt on 11th & 12th October, Sensitec and NTN-SNR, partners of the TMR development, presented the economic character of this new technology for magnetic measurement, in terms of cost and electrical energy.
Summary of the presentation:
"Investigations in tunnelling magnetoresistance are mainly motivated because of the large effect compared to other magnetoresistive effects. Other aspects like energy and material consumption are often underrated. Comparing AMR-, GMR-, and TMR-sensors under these aspects reveals an additional significant advantage of TMR-sensors. The different aspects have to be weighted individually for each application. In particular for mobile applications TMR-sensors exhibit tremendous advantages. Therefore, they are expected to enter new markets."
