NSK Invests Eur 70 Million in Japanese Plant
NSK is set to increase its bearing production volume by 30% with the investment of more than Eur 70 million in a new industrial machinery bearing plant in Fujisawa City, Japan. Once complete, the new facility is expected to increase NSK's manufacturing volume from the current level of 405 million Euro to 540 million in two years. The new Fujisawa plant is a strategic element in NSK's global growth strategy and is central to the company's mid-term plan to reinforce its market presence in the bearing sector.
The plant will extend to an area of 15,000m2 and employ over 100 employees.
Production is scheduled to start in January 2008, manufacturing bearings for industrial machinery applications, such as steel equipment, machine tools, construction equipment, aircraft, robots and wind generators.
This latest substantial investment in manufacturing coincides with NSK's 90th anniversary: the company having produced bearings at its existing Fujisawa main production base since 1916.
This tradition will continue with the new plant, which will complement existing manufacturing facilities and harness the engineering expertise of the NSK Corporate Research and Development Centre and the human resources of the Kanagawa Prefecture.
