Manzhouli customs seized 3 bearing measuring apparatuses and some other parts in a Van from Russian which was claimed to carry only 11.28 tons of discarded steel in the afternoon of Sept. 25. So far, this was the first smuggling case of bearing measuring apparatuses under disguise. Manzhouli city, located in Inner Mongolia, was the largest inland customs in China.
Having noticed by informant that someone was going to smuggle bearings into China, customs staffs become vigilant to all the inbond vehicles that day. About 2 o'clock that afternoon, a Russian van came into the sight of all staffs. And its bad disguises suggested that it was the very one that the staffs were waiting for. Customs staffs found that the van was claimed to carried only 11.28tons of discarded steel which was more less than the average carrying capacity of 20tons; the "discarded steel" were mainly shelter-like iron sheet which covered the thing under it tightly; what's more, the buyer on the documents had never imported discarded steel in a long time, however they did export bearings recently.
After carefully inspection, customs staffs found the smuggling bearing measuring apparatuses and some brandly new parts and tools under the discarded steel. The apparatus has been identified to be roundness measuring apparatus of different types for measuring the inner and outer surface of bearings and other cylindrical parts. The involved people have been arrested, case is under further investigation.
