According to the Confederation of Indian Industries ASCON survey, as many as 50 segments including uktility vehicles, tractors, ball bearings and auto components in the manufacturing sector had shown humunguous growth of 39 percent in the first nine months of the current fiscal, close to doubling in number over the year ago period.
The survey further says that out of 127 segments covered, twenty two of them were in the high growth category, clocking 17.3 percent growth during April-December 2010-11.
Even though the number of sector were slightly high at 27 in the category last year, nevertheless they had not indecated any decline in overall performance, thanks to these efforts, several of them transformed to 'excellent' club, which has considerably increased from 29 to 50. What is more, sectors showing over 20 percent growth fall under the 'excellent' category, while those showing 10-20 percent growth are segmented as 'high' performance category.
According to CII the performance of the industry corroborated the improvement during april-December 2010 as against the year ago period. The 22 industries include utility vehicles, crude oil power transformers, textile machinery, energy meters and others which had logged in 10-20 percent growth, the survey revealed.
The segments which came under 'excellent' category were auto components, construction equipment, air-contitioners, natual gas, tractors, ball bearings, tyre industry, electric fans, nitrogen fertilizers, electrical and cable wires. the number of segments shown moderate to negative growth stood at 48 and seven respectively, in comparison with 55 and eleven in the year ago period.
