Goldwind Science and Technology Co., Ltd, China's leading R&D enterprise in wind power sector, has recently convened a meeting of its bearing suppliers to find the source of a series of quality accidents caused by bearing breakage, jamming, etc. in nearly two years.
Four main suppliers and two substitute suppliers including Luoyang New Energy Bearing Manufacturing Co., Ltd were invited to take a "big test."
Final data shows that the fatigue damages and other core indicators of bearings provided by Luoyang New Energy Bearing Manufacturing are well above the industry average level, wherein, the safety factor is even higher than similar imported products.
Based in Luoxin Industry Cluster, Luoyang New Energy Bearing Manufacturing Co., Ltd mainly produces yaw bearings and pitch bearings for wind turbine applications.
"The national wind power industry entered into the development vale early in 2011. This period, was also the "golden time" for optimization of bearing process control and production processes. We introduced advanced test platforms, which greatly enhanced the R&D capacity and product performance and contributed to the surge in patent applications," said Zhou Kai, Deputy General Manager of Luoyang Bearing Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Walking into the workshop, a large full-load wind power bearing testing machine is very conspicuous. Driven slowly by the spindle, nearly 2-meter long in diameter, every bearing newly developed shall be tested here before put into production.
"24-hour operation and real environmental simulation for troubleshoot allows the R&D team to be bold in innovation," Zhou added.
Last year, the sales revenue generated by the project reached 140 million yuan, more than double the number from 2014. This year, the sales are expected to exceed 200 million yuan.
