Linear drive modules are ideal for robotics

SKF Engineering Products, the linear motion Division of SKF, has introduced a range of twin linear drive modules. Ideal for all types of high-speed handling and robotics applications the units are fitted with two profile rail guides, each having two carriages. The KDCP axis components feature a broad profile for maximum rigidity, even at speeds up to 3.5m/s and acceleration up to 50m/s2.

A toothed belt gives timing accuracy, while the ball bearings are sealed for life to minimise maintenance.

Four KDCP models are available with maximum lengths from 5630mm up to 5470mm.

Load capacity is from 16,600N up to 54,800N, while the maximum permissible load in any one axis is from 1120N up to 7000N in the X-axis and from 16,600N up to 53,000N in the Z-axis.

Stepping up in capacity is the KDVP range of three units featuring twin rails and carriages, but with two preloaded angular contact ball bearings and a deep groove ball bearing on the ballscrew.

Lengths go from 1950mm up to 3550mm, and load capacity is from 18,000N to 72,000N, at speeds up to 1800rev/min according to the critical speed of the screw shaft.

Completing the range is the KDML series, which are linear motor driven for maximum speed, acceleration and accuracy performance.
Again, the units are twin modules, but motion is provided by non-contacting linear motors.

These are fully protected by an extruded anodised aluminium profile that also provides high rigidity.
