Linear Bearings With a Difference - the Price
These linear bearings, type RSD from Micromech, are compact guides for precise linear motion that provide high accuracy with an outstanding reliability.
Depending on the load requirements these bearings can be fitted with ball or roller cages and manufactured for a premium standard in high-tech applications requiring first class performances and quality yet at a minimum cost. Depending on customer requirements the linear bearing can be fitted with ball or roller cages with alternately crossed rollers.
The construction consists of two pairs linear bearings where one pair consists of two similar 90degree V-groove guideways, which are through-hardened and precision ground, fitted with a cage in-between.
Crossed roller cages are used in high-load and high precision applications although good dust protection is required in this case.
Cages fitted with balls are used in applications which require less capacity, low friction resistance or where dust and dirt are likely to penetrate into the guideways.
This is because the balls are affected less by dust or dirt, due to a self-cleaning effect of the balls. The RSD linear bearings can have roller sizes from 1.5 to 24 mm and lengths from 20 to 1400mm.The guideways are machined with countersunk-bored attachment holes to a standard pitch configuration and there are threaded holes in the ends for fixing end-pieces and wipers. This compact bearing has been designed for high quality but is sensibly priced. The RSD is expected to quickly become the first choice for many in the scientific, pharmaceutical, research establishments and also in manufacturing where higher performance is the driver. For more information contact Alan Spinks at Micromech - setting the standard for precise positioning
