Linear Actuator Handles Two Hundred Tons
Serapid's LinearBeam functions as a rodless linear actuator, but the similarities between the LinearBeam and other rodless actuators ends there. Serapid's LinearBeam can withstand the harshest and most demanding operating conditions while extending forces able to move mountains. Two-hundred ton loads are not unusual for this linear actuator.
Recently, the LinearBeam was included in a quick die change system Serapid custom-engineered for a large tool and die company in Van Buren Township, Michigan. The two-position rail mounted die cart will be used on the company's 1000 ton press.
The LinearBeam will provide smooth motion to guide the cart carrying dies weighing up to 22700kg over the rails. The cart will travel approximately 18m, and is driven by a gear motor traveling at a speed of about 3m per minute.
In addition to its most recent use, the LinearBeam has been used in the nuclear industry to transport nuclear waste approximately 30m.For a recent theatre project, it glided a 200-ton orchestra across a stage.Additional applications include steel mill transfer, off-shore skid movement, high-temperature units and furnace loading.
