Lignum Vitae signs contracts to provide bearings for two hydroelectric projects

Parts manufacturer Lignum Vitae North America has been awarded contracts to provide its water lubricated bearings for two hydroelectric projects, the Virginia-based company has announced.

Lignum Vitae will not only provide bearings for the Alabama Power's 12.5-MW Neely Dam, but also Wisconsin Public Service's 1.7-MW Alexander Dam. The hydropower projects were constructed in the 1930s and 1960s, respectively, and each are "excellent examples" of the utilities' "commitment to environmentally responsible projects", Lignum Vitae said.

Lignum Vitae was also recently awarded contracts for similar work at the 19-MW Stevens Creek hydropower project and 180-MW Lay Dam.

Lignum Vitae will be exhibiting at HydroVision International 2013 in Booth No. 1028. HydroVision International 2013 runs July 23-26 at Denver's Colorado Convention Center.
