KMT Lidkoping Strikes SKF Deal
KMT Lidkoping (Sweden, a division of KMT / Karolin Machine Tool Group AB) announced a three-year, "global master agreement," with SKF AB, the world's largest bearing manufacturer.
Until 2000, Lidkoping Machine Tools was a division of SKF. KMT remains SKF's primary supplier of precision grinder and related systems. Each precision grinding module comprises at least one grinding machine with an integrated robot and material handling equipment.
KMT did not detail the agreement, except to note it will "expand and deepen collaboration" with SKF, building volume with what is already one of KMT's largest customers.
Recently, Lidkoping revealed a new generation of high-precision ID grinders. The ultra-small footprint turnkey Nano Grinder uses air bearings and linear motors for "touchless" handling with a production resolution of 0.1nm. On the web at nanogrinder.com.
In the Precision Grinding division, four KMT business units produce grinders and grinding-related products: KMT UVA, KMT LMV, KMT Lidköping, KMT Cincinnati, KMT Spindle Technology, and KMT NanoGrinder.
