Indian Authorities Crack Down on Bearing Ball Smugglers

Three more people have been charged in India's "Perambalur" smuggling case involving bearing balls.

To date, at least 15 people have been apprehended and charged with attempting to smuggle bearing balls to Sri Lanka through India's Perambalur region. Most are being held under the National Security Act, which allows detaining people who are considered to be security risks.

The group's payload was more than 4 metric tons of balls, in 150 containers. Authorities charge the shipment was bomb-making material.
