At Southern Manufacturing, Igus will be unveiling hybrid linear bearings that roll and slide, for use in machinery guards, adjustable doors, sliding partitions and light handling tasks, for example.
The design of these linear bearings is said to reduce driving force and is particularly suited to applications that combine sliding and rolling.
The lubricant-free sliding plain bearings ensure the system is robust, lightweight and impermeable to dirt and humidity.
A roller bearing carries the main load at a defined installation position.
This reduces the overall driving force by a factor of between four and five when compared to standard sliding bearings.
The standard is a flexible modular system made of hard anodised profiles, with the hybrid version available in three sizes: 10, 16 and 20mm diameter systems.
The roller fits inside without increasing the overall width of the carriage.
