Hub Bearing Unit Handles High Loads
SKF has introduced a taper-to-taper version of its X-Tracker hub bearing unit, offering consistently high performance and safety levels for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. The unit features a double row bearing arrangement, which increases load bearing capacity and improves hub stiffness by 50%, allowing greater control during cornering, better steering, minimised brake wear, and reduced noise and vibration.
The new X-tracker unit's double-row tapered roller bearing is arranged so that the outboard row has a higher diameter and therefore more rollers than the inner row.
This provides greater suspension strength and enables the bearing to resist impact during tough driving conditions, extending the life of the bearing considerably.
The unit also features a robust inner and outer flange, designed to bolt securely onto the wheel suspension, enabling quick and simple installation onto the axle system.
Greased and sealed for life, the hub bearing unit requires minimal maintenance, while ABS sensor connections make the X-Tracker fully compatible with the latest ABS and traction control systems.
In addition to the taper-to-taper X-Tracker hub bearing unit, an asymmetric ball unit and hybrid ball-roller version are also available depending on requirements.
The ball bearing X-Tracker unit has recently won the PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence) award for product innovation.
