The production of Chang'e II Statellite was finished together with the completion of Chang'e I Statellite, at first, Chang'e II Statellite was just the backup statellite of Chang'e I Statellite. However, after Chang'e I Statellite has successfully completed the mission, this backup statellite was named Chang'e II Statellite, meanwhile as the guiding statellite in the second phase of lunar exploration. The Chang'e II Statellite focused on the verifying of the second phase engineering & technology, besides, Chang'e II Statellite has made some technical improvements according to the mission requirements. In the core system of Chang'e II Statellite, it has utilized six kind bearings which were researched & developed by AVIC Harbin Bearing Co., Ltd.
AVIC Harbin Bearing Co., Ltd has provided six kind bearings for Chang'e II Statellite, and all these bearings were the new products developed for Chang'e II Statellite. According to the introduction by the vice general manager Lu Haiqing, the newly developed six bearings were installed in the long san-bin rocket, Chang'e II power system, transmission system and other core parts. As we all known, the aerospace bearings need the special materials, complex processing and the high accuracy. Consequently, the new HRB bearings used in the long san-bin rocket and Chang'e II Statellite made the new breakthrough in the aspect of high precision and high reliability.
