Hiwin Reveals Massive Taiwan Expansion Project
Hiwin Technologies Corp. (Taiwan, China) announced an expansive project to build all-new facilities in Yunlin Technology Industrial Park. The company is currently headquartered at Taichung Industrial Park, Taichung.
Founded in 1989, Hiwin (from an acronym for High Tech Winner) manufactures precision and JIS-certified aerospace bearings, linear motion bearings, ballscrews and motion control systems. Hiwin is the largest manufacturer of those product lines in Taiwan. Key customers include machine tool manufacturers, aircraft and aerospace, medical and automotive.
Hiwin currently operates six manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and two in Germany -- in 1993, Hiwin acquired German ballscrew manufacturer Holzer GmbH. The company has formally established field offices in the U.S., Japan, Germany and Taiwan, with sales offices and agents in 32 other countries.
Yunlin, located along the western coast of Taiwan, China, is home toTaiwan's largest industrial parks. Over one third of Taiwan's industrial park area is in and around Yunlin.
Hiwin's five-year, USD $87 million Yunlin project is expected to include a new manufacturing plant, general offices, and a Research & Development center. When complete, the facility will cover more than five hectares and employ over a thousand people.
Hiwin said it expects Yunlin's sales will hit $290 million, primarily from aerospace ballscrews, linear bearings, and control systems.
