Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (Goldwind) announces that it was awarded "African Wind Project of the Year 2011", for providing advanced permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) wind turbine generators (WTG) and comprehensive technical solutions to the Adama wind farm project in Ethiopia as well as for furthering the positive growth of renewable energy in Africa.
The award event was initiated and organized by Terrapinn, a leading global business media company, aimed at awarding those projects which contribute to electricity supply and environmental protection in Africa. On March 28th, Terrapinn announced all awarded projects at the awards ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Adama wind farm in Ethiopia is the first project on the African continent for Goldwind as well as for Chinese wind power equipment manufacturers. The owner of the project is Ethiopia Electric Power Corporation, and Hydrochina International Engineering Co. Ltd. ("Hydrochina International") is the EPC supplier. Goldwind supplied 34 units of the1.5MW Goldwind PMDD WTGs to this project; currently, 22 turbines have already been commissioned.
