Gleason's New China Factory Opens

US gear manufacturing equipment provider Gleas Corporation has its new facility in China start to roll.

As its name suggests, the new facility, Gleason Gear Technology (Suzhou) Co Ltd is located in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Bringing Gear technology to China, it represents another step in Gleason's strategic thrust into the Chinese market for gear manufacturing equipment and related products and services, President and CEO John J. Perrotti commented.

According to planning, in the beginning, the 22,600-square-meter facility will mainly provide the advanced GENESIS 130H gear hobbing machine for the domestic Chinese market. Additional products and services are subjected to evaluation.

Gleason entered into Chinese market 20 years ago by opening Gleason Sales (China) in Beijing. It also formed a joint venture company, Gleason Yi Gong (Harbin) Cutting Tools Co Ltd, to produce precision cutting tools in Harbin, China in 2005.
