Because fluoropolymers can significantly enhance products and components used in critical environments such as oil and gas exploration, transportation, chemical processing and aerospace, AGC FluoroCompounds Group offers Fluon® Filled PTFE Compounds.
Customization is key in fluoropolymer compounding because selecting the appropriate filler is strongly application dependent.
Fluon Filled PTFE Compounds are polytetrafluoroethylene resins enhanced with fillers that provide greater deformation and creep resistance, thermal conductivity and wear performance over traditional PTFE resins. These characteristics are vital for components such as bearings, seals and gaskets used in applications that need to withstand ongoing heat and pressure.
Although fluoropolymer resins alone impart characteristics of low coefficient of friction, chemical resistance and a wide service temperature range, fillers such as glass, bronze and graphite can greatly enhance their performance.
By compounding PTFE resins with pigments and fillers, AGC creates custom low flow (non-pelletized) and free flow (pelletized) compounds. Low flow compounds are manufactured in powder form and are used in applications that demand the highest mechanical strength. Free flow compounds increase bulk density and mold flow properties, which enables consistent manufacturing of seals, gaskets and rings.
“Customization is key in fluoropolymer compounding because selecting the appropriate filler is strongly application dependent,” said Gary Eckrote, business director of AGC FluoroCompounds Group. “Fillers must be compatible with PTFE in order to retain optimal performance properties.”
AGC FluoroCompounds Group focuses solely on the development, production and marketing of fluoropolymer compounds. Visit for information about Fluon products, compounding capabilities, testing and customer support services.
