ERIKS Launches New Range of Gas Connection Hoses for the Catering Industry

ERIKS, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of seals and hoses, has launched a new range of gas connection hoses that have been designed to last in a harsh catering environment. RX Caterflow is available in a range of lengths and configurations and is suitable for use with a number of gases including Propane, Natural Gas and LPG.

Gas connection hoses for catering equipment usually have a hard life; being exposed to heat, oils and acids as well as astringent cleaners and alkaline bleaches. They are also subjected to frequent flexing due to catering equipment being moved for cleaning in order to meet hygiene requirements. To perform in these arduous conditions all hoses are produced in the UK to the required ISO 10380 specification and to BS669 part 2 1997. An ISO 9001 quality standard also helps ensure a high quality product.

The technology and expertise that has been invested by ERIKS' into the new RX Caterflow range is considerable; metallic braided hoses have been manufactured at the Northampton site for over 30 years. The state-of-the art facility is also one of ERIKS' nine Core Competence Centres in the UK, helping to develop and manufacture products for both the OEM and the MRO markets. The production facility has the flexibility to produce large orders as well as one-off specials.

RX Caterflow gas hose is intended for use in the installation of gas-fired catering appliances carried out in accordance with BS6173 : 2001. The British Standard also states that movable appliances should be connected to the installation pipe by a corrugated metallic flexible connection complying with BS669-2: 1997. ERIKS Hose Technology manufacture their hoses to meet this requirement and are marked or labelled accordingly, they also incorporate a self-sealing plug and socket.

Hoses for food environments are all sheathed in tough kink resistant PVC for cleanliness. The heavier braided version of the hose has an additional layer of stainless steel braiding covering the inner sleeve, plus the yellow PVC outer cover. In accordance with 2.3.5 of the standard all hoses are supplied with a yellow covered restraining wire device including mounting kit and complete with fitting instructions to BS6173-2001 together with the relevant mounting hardware to attach it.

RX Caterflow hoses are manufactured in seventeen different standard lengths and configurations, and are available for use with Propane, Natural Gas and LPG. Hose dimensions vary from ½" hose rated to transmit 75,000 btu/hour to 1" hose rated to transmit 230,000 btu/hour of natural gas, through to propane hose capable of transmitting between 92,000 btu/hour and 360,000 btu/hour.

All RX Caterflow assemblies are supplied complete with stainless steel male BSP connector and brass quick release valve socket for easy installation. Un-braided hoses are suitable for use up-to 7 Bar working pressure, and at a temperature range of -20 C to +60 C. Non-covered braided hose is available for supply pressures up to 40 bar, and a huge temperature range of - 100 C to + 600 C.
