Eaton May Invest zł.216 Million in Bearings Plant

American car part producer Eaton, which already owns two factories in Poland, is continuing with its expansion plans despite the slowdown which is being particularly felt by the automotive sector. "The company is considering investing in a new bearings factory in Tczew. We are talking about zł.216.5 million and 250 new jobs," said a source quoted by Puls Biznesu.

According to unofficial information, Eaton will enter the Pomorska Special Economic Zone (PSSE).

However, neither Eaton nor PSSE has confirmed these rumors. A source near the negotiations said, "The decision will be made by the end of the year or around the beginning of 2009. Besides Poland, locations in South America and Asia are also being considered."

Eaton employs 81,000 people worldwide and last year had a turnover of USD 13 billion.
