Dnalop to launch Polish marine bearings plant

A Canadian owned company specialising in the production of polymer-based marine bearings and seals is set to launch a plant in Slupsk, Poland at the end of the month.

In May, TG Dnalop Sp., a subsidiary of the engineering Thomson-Gordon Group of Burlington, Ontario, completed construction and equipping of the facility in Redzikowo area of the Slupsk Economic Zone. A month later it carried out production trials at the plant.

The firm designs and manufactures a full range of high-performance, environmentally friendly water-lubricated bearings for marine, pump, hydro-turbine, offshore oil and other industrial applications.

The group’s bearings business, including its Canadian firm Thordon Bearings, uses a special polymer alloy as the bearing wear surface to provide exceptional life and performance.

Apart from the installed production line, Dnalop’s Polish plant will include its own quality control laboratory along with a special test area.

Thomson-Gordon chose Poland for its new European plant because it offers generous tax breaks, remains less affected by Europe’s economic recession and has many clients located in neighbouring countries, it said.
